Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) & Carbapenemase Producing Organisms (CPO) Antimicrobial importance
Our ASR range of Antimicrobial resistance products are in-vitro nucleic acid amplification assays for the qualitative detection of ESBL, CPO & MCR pathogens.
Beta-lactam antibiotics are the most commonly used antibiotics worldwide for the treatment of bacterial infections. Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) producing organisms hydrolyze cephalosporins, penicillins, and aztreonam, rendering them ineffective for the treatment of infected patients. This makes accurate and timely detection of ESBL and Carbapenemase Producing Organisms (CPO) important as it will have a significant impact on patient management.
ESBL Targets
ABL001-1 | Pan-TEM |
ABL002-3 | Pan-CTX-M |
ABL003-4 | Pan-SHV |
ABL004-1 | Pan-CMY |
ABL005-3 | Pan-DHA |
ABL006-1 | MCR-1 |
ASRs also include an Extraction and Internal Positive Control for each sample to ensure the quality of the extracted DNA and to detect the presence of any inhibitors, respectively.
The Product Code suffix indicates the detection channel for each real-time PCR probe.
Regulatory
- Analyte Specific Reagents (ASRs). Analytical and performance characteristics are not characterized.
- EasyScreenTM Sample Processing Kits are FDA-listed clinical concentrators.
Carbapenem based antibiotics have become the first line choice in the treatment of ESBL infections. Of significant global concern therefor is the emergence of carbapenem resistant (CPO) bacteria in healthcare settings, as standard treatments may be rendered ineffective.
