Senior Laboratory Technician (Full-Time -38 hours per week)

We seek an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician. This is a hands-on laboratory role responsible for supporting Product Care activities, maintaining laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with quality and safety requirements, and providing technical expertise.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Technology Operations team onsite, full-time (38 hours per week). This is a hands-on laboratory role responsible for supporting Product Care activities, maintaining laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with quality and safety requirements, and providing technical expertise across laboratory systems, equipment, and processes.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Managing day-to-day laboratory operations to ensure a safe, organised and efficient working environment
- Supporting Product Care investigations, including root cause analysis, laboratory testing, data collection and report generation
- Maintaining laboratory consumables, inventories, biological materials and temperature monitoring systems
- Coordinating equipment procurement, qualification, calibration, maintenance and service activities
- Managing laboratory documentation, records and controlled procedures in accordance with QMS requirements
- Supporting CAPA activities and product issue investigations
- Receiving, processing and tracking laboratory materials, samples and External Quality Assessment (EQA) materials
- Conducting laboratory bench work including reagent preparation, sample processing and experimental support activities
- Supporting laboratory training and induction of employees on laboratory procedures, equipment and safety practices
- Ensuring laboratory operations comply with ISO 13485 requirements, WHS regulations and relevant laboratory safety standards
- Assisting with audit readiness and continuous improvement initiatives
- Building effective working relationships across Product Care, R&D, Quality, Purchasing and Logistics teams
To be successful as our Senior Laboratory Technician, you will possess:
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- A methodical and proactive approach to laboratory operations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Sound understanding of molecular biology principles and laboratory techniques
- Experience working within structured SOP and quality-controlled environments
- Ability to independently manage competing priorities and solve technical problems
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology or a related scientific discipline
- Minimum 4 years’ industry laboratory experience
- Experience with molecular biology techniques including pipetting, nucleic acid extraction, PCR setup and reagent preparation
- Experience maintaining laboratory equipment and supporting calibration and qualification activities
- Working knowledge of ISO 13485 quality management systems and documentation practices
- Practical understanding of laboratory safety, biosafety and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting investigation, CAPA or quality-related activities is highly desirable
- Experience within the biotechnology, medical device or diagnostics industry will be highly regarded
