Field Service Engineer

Genetic Signatures seek a permanent full time Field Service Engineer (FSE) to partner with our valued customers to provide maintenance and repair of equipment, complaint resolution, and testing of new equipment. Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, you will work collaboratively with the broader technical team at our headquarters in Newtown, Australia.

Genetic Signatures are a global molecular diagnostics company, driving improved patient outcomes using our innovative 3base™ technology to provide configurable clinically relevant molecular diagnostic solutions for infectious diseases.  We support leading pathology laboratories around the world and with a keen focus on meeting our customer needs, we continue to expand our global customer base.

To help support our growing company, we now seek a permanent full time Field Service Engineer (FSE) to provide product support of Genetic Signatures’ innovative and simplified molecular diagnostic technologies. The FSE partners with customers providing maintenance and repair of equipment, complaint resolution, and testing of new equipment.

As our customer oriented FSE you will:

  • Coordinate and install Genetic Signatures’ RUO and IVD systems
  • Coordinate and perform planned maintenance of equipment
  • Respond to unscheduled call outs to troubleshoot instrumentation and perform repairs
  • Provide ongoing technical support in person or via remote support/phone/email. This will include being on-call after hours as part of a rotating roster
  • Repair instrument parts in-house
  • Test new equipment/software
  • Document activities as per QMS requirements
  • Liaise with OEM technical support if failures cannot be immediately rectified
  • Develop customer relationships
  • Proactively manage and provide service & support to customers
  • Respond quickly to customer concerns or issues regarding equipment or kits
  • Travel, with some periodically overnight, to support customers
  • Ensure all customer interaction complies with our QMS and regulatory requirements, particularly ISO 13485 and TGA requirements
  • Assist with CAPA investigations as required
  • Assist SPRS and other team members with other tasks as required
  • Provide support for the domestic and international sales effort as required
  • Relay customer feedback to relevant staff to provide input for product development

 

Essential for success as a FSE are:

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing laboratory/medical equipment
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrate experience delivering timely service
  • Understanding of scientific issues within a commercial context
  • Able to work independently

It is advantageous if our FSE’s talent tool kit includes:

  • Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field
  • Experience in demonstration/training of hardware and assays
  • Presenting technology within a commercial context and understanding scientific issues
  • Experience in products/services for the worldwide molecular diagnostic marketplace
