Field Application Scientist

We seek a customer-focused and scientifically driven Field Application Scientist to join our Technical Support team. This role plays a critical part in delivering technical support, training and troubleshooting to customers, ensuring successful implementation and ongoing use of our molecular diagnostic solutions.

Genetic Signatures improves patient care and outcomes by developing innovative diagnostic technologies that simplify molecular pathology.

We are an Australian-based manufacturer supplying leading pathology laboratories locally and globally, and we are continuing to grow our diverse, supportive and high-performing team.

We are now seeking a customer-focused and scientifically driven Field Application Scientist to join our Technical Support team. This role plays a critical part in delivering technical support, training and troubleshooting to customers, ensuring successful implementation and ongoing use of our molecular diagnostic solutions.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering customer training for system installations and upgrades
  • Providing ongoing technical support via phone, email, and onsite visits
  • Troubleshooting assays, instrumentation, and software issues
  • Supporting customers with results interpretation and general product enquiries
  • Building strong customer relationships through proactive service and support
  • Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions in CRM/ERP systems
  • Supporting internal teams by relaying customer feedback and insights
  • Ensuring all activities comply with quality and regulatory requirements
  • Travelling to customer sites, including occasional overnight travel as required

To be successful as our FAS, you will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Molecular Biology, Genetics or a related field
  • Experience in laboratory techniques relevant to molecular diagnostics
  • Experience in customer training, technical support, or applications roles
  • Exposure to PCR or diagnostic instrumentation (desirable)
  • Experience in biotech, medical devices, or life sciences environment is advantageous

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience testing code for scientific or automated systems
  • Exposure to liquid handling systems or laboratory instrumentation (desirable)
  • Understanding of software development compliance and documentation standards is beneficial
