Automation Specialist

We seek a motivated and technically skilled Automation Specialist to join our Technology team. This role plays a critical part in integrating our proprietary molecular diagnostic technology into automated workflows, enabling scalable, high-quality solutions that support improved patient outcomes
Genetic Signatures improves patient care and outcomes by developing innovative diagnostic technologies that simplify molecular pathology.
We are an Australian-based manufacturer supplying leading pathology laboratories locally and globally, and we are continuing to grow our diverse, supportive and high-performing team.
We are now seeking a motivated and technically skilled Automation Specialist to join our Technology team. This role plays a critical part in integrating our proprietary molecular diagnostic technology into automated workflows, enabling scalable, high-quality solutions that support improved patient outcomes
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Developing and testing scripts for liquid handling systems to support automated workflows
- Modifying and optimising existing scripts and processes based on business and customer needs
- Supporting development of software tools for results analysis and workflow integration
- Documenting all development activities in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements
- Providing internal training and technical support on workflows and associated programs
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Development, Validation and Technical Support
- Testing new equipment and software as required
- Contributing to continuous improvement of automation processes and workflows
To be successful as our Automation Specialist, you will possess:
- Experience in software development and programming for hardware-dependent systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
- Experience writing and testing code for scientific or automated systems
- Exposure to liquid handling systems or laboratory instrumentation (desirable)
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. VB, C++, JSON, XAML) is advantageous
- Understanding of software development compliance and documentation standards is beneficial
