We are an Australian-based manufacturer supplying leading pathology laboratories locally and globally, and we are continuing to grow our diverse, supportive and high-performing team.

We are now seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Finance & Operations team on a part-time basis (22.8 hours per week). Additional hours may be required from time to time to support business needs. This role plays a critical part in supporting day-to-day transactional accounting, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining strong financial controls across the organisation.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Processing supplier invoices, ensuring accurate coding, GST treatment and approvals
• Performing purchase order matching and reconciling supplier statements
• Managing employee expense claims and corporate credit cards
• Assisting with BAS, GST and FBT preparation
• Supporting payroll coordination, data entry and reconciliations
• Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations (bank, credit card, accruals, etc.)
• Supporting month-end close activities and audit preparation
• Maintaining finance master data in ERP systems (SAP Business One preferred)
• Contributing to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls

To be successful as our Assistant Accountant, you will possess:

• 1–3 years’ experience in accounts payable, assistant accountant or similar role
• Understanding of accounting principles including AP, reconciliations and GST
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Intermediate Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive approach and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Experience with SAP Business One or similar ERP systems is advantageous
• Exposure to biotech, medical devices or life sciences environment is desirable
• Working towards CA or CPA qualification is advantageous
