To deliver exceptional service to our customers, we are seeking a variety loving Field Application & Service Engineer to provide product support of Genetic Signatures’ innovative and simplified molecular diagnostic technologies. The Field Application & Service Engineer partners with customers to provide technical training, troubleshooting, complaint resolution, and implementation of new processes. This position serves as a scientific consultant during pre- and post-sales activities and will collaborate with the broader commercial team to maximize sales growth and customer satisfaction.

As our solutions-oriented Field Application & Service Engineer you will:

  • Perform customer training as required with system installation or upgrades
  • Provide ongoing technical support in person or via remote support/phone/email. This will include being on-call after hours as part of a rotating roster
  • Provide in-house and customer laboratory support including:
  • Addressing results analysis and kit queries
  • Software repair/changes
  • Hardware repairs
  • Modify customer programs as required
  • Test new equipment/software
  • Document activities as per QMS requirements
  • Liaise with OEM technical support if failures cannot be immediately rectified
  • Develop customer relationships
  • Proactively manage and provide service & support to customers
  • Respond quickly to customer concerns or issues regarding equipment or kits
  • Travel, with some periodically overnight, to support customers
  • Monitor and report on new product requirements, opportunities, and competitive activities
  • Provide support for the domestic and international sales effort as required
  • Relay customer feedback to relevant staff to provide input for product development

Essential for success as our Field Application & Service Engineer are:

  • A minimum of BSc. in Biomedical Science or Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in demonstrating hardware and assays
  • Experience in laboratory with liquid handlers
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering customer support and training
  • Problem solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently

It is advantageous if our Field Application & Service Engineer’s talent tool kit includes:

  • Experience with liquid handling instruments (Tecan, Hamilton) and PCR instruments (BioRad, ThermoFisher)
  • Writing/amending programs for liquid handling equipment
  • Presenting technology within a commercial context and understanding scientific issues
  • Experience in products/services for the worldwide molecular diagnostic marketplace
