The EasyScreen™ Gastrointestinal Parasite Detection Kit & Automated Workflow can detect 8 of the most common GI parasites in a single test
Diagnose with Precision, Treat with Confidence
The EasyScreen™ Gastrointestinal Parasite Detection Kit and GS1 automated workflow offers a significant advancement in clinical diagnostics for expanded gastrointestinal (GI) parasite testing, providing healthcare professionals with a powerful, innovative tool for accurate and timely diagnosis.
Utilising patented 3base® technology, this highly sensitive gastrointestinal parasite panel can identify the eight most common and clinically relevant gastrointestinal parasites in a single test, from a single patient sample.
The automated workflow addresses the many challenges of highly manual and complex microscopic examinations. Our GS1 automated system performs sample extraction and PCR set-up, to provide a significant walkaway time and same-day reporting.
This rapid turnaround enables timely and appropriate patient management, significantly reducing healthcare costs.
Find out how EasyScreen™ and GS1 automation can transform your laboratory operations.
Don't risk a missed diagnosis
Traditional methods may only be 50% accurate
The life cycle of enteric parasites may be several days, or even up to 2 weeks in the case of Cyclospora spp. This causes sporadic shedding, creating a sensitivity challenge for diagnosis by traditional microscopy methods.
Ova & Parasite detection by microscopy requires several stool samples collected over several days to achieve a reasonable diagnostic sensitivity.
- 1 stool sample → ~50% accuracy
- 2 stool samples → ~75% accuracy
- 3 stool samples → ~90% accuracy
- Easyscreen™ Gastrointestinal Parasite Detection Kit → 98.8 - 99.6% accuracy
Based on FDA clinical trial results across 8 gastrointestinal parasites. Lowest accuracy of 98.8% for Giardia spp. Highest accuracy of 99.6% for Entamoeba histolytica.
Requiring only 1 patient sample, the Easyscreen™ Gastrointestinal Parasite Detection Kit provides reliable detection of the 8 most common enteric parasites for up to 60 patient samples simultaneously.

Molecular testing for Intestinal Protozoa: How a laboratory developed test compares to one that is FDA-cleared
Presented by Dr Susan Madison-Antenucci
Lab Chief of Bloodborne and Parasitic Diseases, New York State Department of Health, Wadsworth Center
Assistant Professor - Biomedical Sciences. Assistant Professor - Environmental Health Sciences, College of Integrated Health Sciences, University at Albany.
Section Editor for PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases
Infections with intestinal parasitic protozoa are frequently underdiagnosed. Contributing factors include lack of knowledge regarding the prevalence in economically developed countries, poor sensitivity for traditional microscopy-based testing algorithms and lack of ability to test for some parasites. Sensitive, comprehensive and efficient testing methods are key for detection of intestinal parasites in clinical and reference laboratories.
Dr Madison-Antenucci discussed the comparison of laboratory-developed multiplex real-time PCR tests with the FDA-cleared Genetic Signatures Gastrointestinal Parasite Detection test. Specimens submitted to a reference laboratory for confirmation testing were retrospectively tested using the Genetic Signatures assay. Overall, 225 specimens were tested by both methods and showed good concordance for detection of Cryptosporidium sp., Cyclospora cayetanensis, Giardia duodenalis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Blastocystis sp. and Entamoeba histolytica, which are included in both assays.

Detect coinfections for earlier treatment
Gastrointestinal parasites often present as coinfections.
A large proportion of patient stool samples containing enteric parasites contain more than one species.
Due to the unique antibiotic treatment requirements of enteric parasite species, the simultaneous detection of all pathogens is essential to quickly deliver appropriate medical intervention, ensuring the best possible patient outcomes and antimicrobial stewardship.
"Cryptosporidium and Giardia are the two primary parasites that all of the
labs in the United States see, and we do a number of different types of
tests for them. They cause a significant burden on our population in terms
of work loss and economic productivity. The symptoms of Cryptosporidium
and Giardia infection can last for weeks."
